One of my favorite parts of writing both this and As Far as the Sky is coming up with other musical people to cast. I actually did have someone in mind for the Emperor, but I could not for the life of me figure out a natural way to do a reveal, so I decided it was just going to have to be one of those things I visualized as backstory without ever including in the real thing. My mental emperor? David Bowie.
