Dear Yuletide benefactor...
Hi, author! I’m happy to have matched on any of these fandoms with you, and thank you for writing me a story. I never go into these with very firm ideas of what I want, so if you have a story idea that doesn’t fit into one of the prompts I come up with here, go for it! But here’s some general fic preferences and stuff I would enjoy, and I hope at least some of it is useful.
Things I generally enjoy include AUs and fusions of all kinds, happy endings, found families, moments of discovery or revelation, important conversations between characters, and first meetings. I love exploring relationships where both parties really like each other, and where both parties have interesting lives of their own. Fandom clichés are fine by me, as is literally any amount of sex in a story, from no sex or romance whatsoever to the super explicit.
My dislikes include dark or angsty endings, character bashing, betrayal, graphic violence, non-con, incest, and infidelity. I’m okay with complicated relationships, but I don’t like stories where the main pairing doesn’t seem to like each other, or where one character is the ‘good’ one and one character the ‘bad’ one—it’s just not a dynamic that appeals to me.
As far as specific fandoms go, I've put some rambling notes below:
In the sign-up, I said: This is a fandom that really brings out my desire for rarepair femslash. Constance/Daphne? Amita/Nine Ball? Constance/Amita? Rose/Daphne? Tammy/Nine Ball? Any of the above would be met with delight. I'd love a con/heist story, but honestly, I'd be just as happy with them hanging out and spending their loot, or randomly crashing Hollywood parties of Daphne's, or bugging Rose while she designs costumes or something.
I loved the Debbie/Lou old marrieds dynamic in the movie, but the side characters were the ones that really made me want to know more about them. I'd love all the backstory on Constance, Daphne, Amita, Nine Ball, Rose, or Tammy, but I don't know if I'd want a story set entirely in the past, because I enjoy their interactions with each other. Hence all the possible femslash pairings. But if you were in more of a gen mood, I also really enjoyed the Hollywood elements in this story, and I'd be tickled pink by a story about how suddenly Rose has become Daphne's go-to designer or how Daphne's suddenly hanging out with these random people, and the tabloids and other actors are kind of baffled. Or how Daphne gets into directing, and any or all of her con artist friends help her out with that.
In the sign-up, I said: I would kind of dig Rayla/Amaya, but I'd also be fascinated to read more road trip adventures with Rayla, Callum, and Ezran, or somewhat awkward family bonding between Callum, Ezran, and Harrow.
Rayla was probably my favorite character in The Dragon Prince, and the brief period of screentime she shares with General Amaya really makes me want Rayla/Amaya--there's something about the 'enemies discovering that they're really not as bad as they thought' trope, which I enjoy in this show just generally speaking, that I think I'd really like with Rayla and Amaya. That said, I loved the development of her friendship with Callum and Ezran while they were traveling, and I'd love a story where they just discover more about each other on the road. On a somewhat separate note, the dynamics between Callum, Ezran, and Harrow were also really interesting to me, so if you wanted to focus on Harrow's feelings after his wife died, or his efforts to forge a relationship with Callum, or Callum being Ezran's big brother while feeling kind of out of place in the royal family, I'd be up for that, too.
In the sign-up, I said: I'd really enjoy something with Anne and the Cuthberts--her relationship with Matthew is adorable, and I'm always up for more of that--but I also really like her relationship with her friends. I think it would be cool to see how Anne and Cole's friendship developed after Cole moved in with Aunt Josephine, or Anne and Diana and Cole all hanging out again, or Anne and Diana talking about the future and Diana realizing that the future she'd always envisioned for herself--where she basically has her mother's life--isn't really what she wants.
I feel like I'm really looking for heartwarming here, since that's the feeling I get from watching Anne With an E. I would absolutely love something about Anne and the Cuthberts being a family together, whether that takes the form of Anne doing something that makes Matthew and Marilla proud, or Matthew attempting to cheer Anne up on a rough day and accidentally rediscovering fun stuff from his childhood and coming out of his shell, or even something more hurt/comfort-y where dark stuff comes up from either Anne or the Cuthberts' pasts and they have to deal with it. On the kid side of things, I really wanted more resolution between Anne and Cole after Cole moves in with Aunt Josephine--and to know how Diana feels about that--so I'd really like post-S2 where either Anne and Cole or Anne, Diana, and Cole talk about how Cole's doing, how Anne's dealing with the destruction of their clubhouse and Cole's leaving, or how Diana's discoveries about Cole and Aunt Josephine and her friendship with Anne are legitimately changing how she thinks about things and about what's possible for her in her life.
In the sign-up, I said: I would really like to see post-S1 Rance family adventures. How do Angela's relationships with her husband and daughters change after their experiences? How does the family deal with their move? Does Kat get a girlfriend? It would be super cool if the Rances could meet up with any or all of the Kim family kids, but I'd also like something that just looks at Rance family dynamics.
Ah, Rances. There were so many complicated feelings in this family, and I wanted more of all of them. I'd love to see something about Angela's marriage, how she and Henry met or how their relationship changed after the revelations about Angela's past and their demonic ordeal. I'd love to read about how Angela's relationships with her daughters developed, whether she feels closer to Casey because of what they went through or wants to avoid talking about it or blames herself for any part of what happened to Casey and Kat. I'd also like fluff about Kat getting a girlfriend and trying to figure out what exactly to tell the girlfriend and her family about each other, too, so I'm open to a lot. I think it would be cool if the Rances could meet with the Kim kids and bond about shared horrible demonic possession stories--especially if Kat and Verity could bond--but that would just be a cherry on the Rance family sundae for me.
In the sign-up, I said:Quasi! I'd love to see him finding a new life and making friends and getting out and enjoying medieval Paris after the movie. I'd especially like to see more about his friendships with Esmeralda and/or Phoebus.
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, and Quasimodo was my favorite character, and I guess what I want most of all is just him being happy, finding acceptance among the people he wanted to be a part of for so long, having friends, and finding a place in the world. I'd love more about his friendship with Esmeralda, but I also like his Odd Couple, squabbly friendship with Phoebus, and heck, if you wanted to make a Quasimodo/Esmeralda/Phoebus story I'd be completely up for it, though I don't think I'd enjoy a jealous love triangle at all--I definitely want something where they're all on good terms with each other, or at least getting there.
In the sign-up, I said: I really enjoyed Lara and Lu Ren's snarky but mega-loyal relationship in the movie, and I feel like Lara could use that, given the position she's in when the movie's end. Come to think of it, Lu Ren could, too, given that I think his previous career as drunk boatman is probably going to be less tenable after their adventures. Friendship or romance, I could see it going either way and enjoy it either way, but I'd love to see them helping each other out post-movie.
Lara's in a really interesting place by the end of the movie, where she's resolved things with her father and suddenly in a much better place financially (and in terms of having tested her own capabilities and found herself up to the challenge), but where she's also realized that people she's trusted her whole life have been keeping big and dangerous secrets from her. She needs someone in her corner, and I think Lu Ren, who's probably lost his livelihood and just discovered that his father died a hero, could both be that person and benefit from a change of scenery and a new friend who's rolling in dough. It would be cool to see them go on some other adventure, or fix up Croft Manor, or coming up with a plan to foil Trinity and Ana's evil schemes, or just get to know each other while they're not in a life-or-death situation. If they were to start making out at any point, I for one wouldn't complain.
I hope at least some of this is helpful! I'm sure whatever you come up with, I'll enjoy to no end, because I'm really excited about all these fandoms. Thanks again for writing for me, and happy Yuletide!
Best,
Tam_Cranver
