Dear Yuletide Benefactor....
Hi, author! I’m happy to have matched on any of these fandoms with you, and thank you for writing me a story. I'll say ahead of time, I'm not very picky on plot details, so you have a story idea that doesn’t fit into one of the prompts I come up with here, go for it! But here’s some general fic preferences and stuff I would enjoy, and I hope at least some of it is useful.
Things I generally enjoy:
--AUs and fusions
--happy endings
--poly ships (which...will be super obvious if you read my prompts and requests this year)
--moments of discovery or revelation
--genfic
--important conversations between characters
--first meetings and/or characters getting to know each other.
--cliche rom-com tropes
--literally any amount of sex--none whatsoever, non-stop smut, I like it all
--having my heartstrings pulled, as long as there's a happy ending
Things I do not enjoy:
--dark or angsty endings
--character bashing
--infidelity
--graphic violence
--non-con
--incest
--relationships where the parties don't seem to like each other
As far as fandom-specific stuff goes, I laid out my general preferences in the sign-up, but if you'd like some prompt ideas, here you go!
In the sign-up, I said: Broadly speaking, I'd like more of Wolfgang, Kala, and Rajan's post-series adventures as they negotiate their relationship. I am very much looking for OT3 fic here, but if they have to deal with various difficulties making their relationship work, I'm okay with a little angst along the road as long as there's a happy ending.
Fun fact: I watched the first season of Sense8 and liked it, but wasn't super-fannish about it, and quit watching halfway through the Christmas special. I hadn't really planned on picking it up again, but after the finale, I saw gifsets of Wolfgang/Kala/Rajan, and it was like a switch was flipped--I was obsessed. Not that you needed to know any of that, but anyway, that's my level of enthusiasm when it comes to this ship.
Some more specific plotbunnies I thought of: Rajan gets some help from the Sensates clearing out corruption in his company. Wolfgang finds a new career, now that being a safe-cracker might reflect on Kala and Rajan. Kala makes some big scientific discovery. We learn some sexuality backstory for Rajan or Wolfgang and their history with men. One of the other Sensates is in a jam and Kala, Wolfgang, and Rajan have to lend a hand. Felix and Wolfgang open a bar in Mumbai, and Kala and Rajan help them fix it up. Some other Felix-related shenanigans? Why not!
In the sign-up, I said: Philo/Vignette/Tourmaline would be the dream, but I'd also dig Philo/Vignette or Vignette/Tourmaline.
I'm clearly in a very OT3 kind of mood this Yuletide, but really, any combination of these three characters would float my boat. Maybe post-series fic about the three of them fighting the political situation in the aftermath of Absalom Breakspear's death? Or Tourmaline's career as poet laureate pre-series? The story of how Vignette came to be the guardian of the library at Tirnanoc? Philo adjusting to living among the Critch? Some kind of shenanigans involving Jonah Breakspear realizing he has a brother and Philo, Vignette, and Tourmaline having to play politics to keep him and Sophie Longerbane from eliminating them? The three of them engineering a daring escape plan?
In the sign-up, I said:I super want post-movie fic about these two getting to know each other without any deception between them and falling in love again (or figuring out that they were in love with each other the whole time....).
I shipped Jing and Ah-Sheng SO HARD in this movie--their complicated lies to each other, the identity shifts each has undergone, Ah-Sheng's agenda of revenge intersecting with Jing's efforts to escape her past, the fact that they're so into each other despite being willing to wound and deceive each other...just love it, and I really want to see Phase II of their marriage post-movie. Like, does Ah-Sheng nurse her back to health? Do they come up with some nonsense story for their neighbors and put on a front like everything's normal, all the while they're trying to figure out how much of the person they fell in love with was real? Do they start sparring once Jing's recovered, a sparring complicated by their lingering anger but fear of hurting each other??? Man, I need to rewatch this movie now, just writing this is reminding me how much I love them.
In the sign-up, I said: Perry, Paul, and Della really come off like all three of them are dating each other in the show (to me, anyway), and I'd really like a story about that. I'd also be psyched with gen casefic, as long as it featured the three of them working together.
Yeah, here's my love of OT3s coming out again. Something in the water this year, I guess. And I can see this one being such an interesting OT3, too--Perry's always dragging the other two into semi-legal shenanigans on his cases, Paul flirts with every attractive woman he sees (but at the end of the day, is still going out to dinner with Perry and Della and calling Della "Beautiful" as a nickname), and Della's such an interesting mix of not taking Perry's shit and 100% up for doing what needs to be done for a case. I'd love to see how they draw that line between their public associations and their private affairs--and/or what happens when the private side gets discovered by someone like Burger or Tragg. I'd also be happy as a clam just watching them working together on a case, too--or outsider POV on their relationship. That would be cool.
In the sign-up, I said: Tavra femslash: I want it. I'm not into incest, but any other female partner you care to ship her with, I'd enjoy it. Alternately, genfic of Tavra and her sisters would be nifty.
Feel free to AU away Tavra's death, if you want--I certainly wouldn't complain--or set it earlier. I loved Tavra's solid, loving presence as the middle sister, and I just couldn't get enough of her, so anything that focuses on her would be awesome. As far as shipping possibilities go, Tavra/Deet could be adorable, Tavra/Naia would be badass, Tavra/Fara could have some interesting political tensions...but gen between Tavra and Brea and/or Seladon and/or the All-Maudra would also be great.
In the sign-up, I said: I'd really enjoy some brotherly bonding--getting to know what each other's lives have been like, dealing with old hurts and resentments, finding some way to incorporate Will into Robin's life now that his status has been restored to him. Again, incest is not my cup of tea, but if you'd like to incorporate another ship for one of them into the story, be my guest!
This is a movie near and dear to my heart, and Robin and Will's plotline has been especially dear to me for decades. I've always wanted more conversations between them about what happened to Will and his mother after Locksley Senior rejected her, or about Robin's experiences in the Crusades, or what it means for Robin, as a lord who has (perhaps naturally) some very classist attitudes toward the other Merry Men throughout the movie, to have a brother who's always lived as a peasant and then a thief. Will seems to forgive Robin at the end of the movie, but after literally decades of holding a grudge, I can't believe he wouldn't still have some resentments to work through, and I imagine Robin might have some difficulty reconciling the snarky bastard who made his life miserable as an underling with a brother whom he loves as soon as he realizes that he's a brother. I don't know, I don't have a lot of preferences with respect to plot, I just want these two to talk a lot.
