Dear Yuletide Benefactor....

Hi, Yuletide writer! Thank you for writing me a story--I'm happy we matched on any of these fandoms, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. If you have a story idea that doesn’t fit into one of the prompts I come up with here, go for it! But here’s some general prompts, likes, dislikes, etc., and I hope at least some of it is useful.
Things I generally enjoy:
--AUs and fusions
--happy endings
--poly ships
--moments of discovery or revelation
--gen and casefic
--important conversations between characters
--first meetings and/or characters getting to know each other.
--cliche rom-com tropes
--literally any amount of sex--none whatsoever, non-stop smut, I like it all
--having my heartstrings pulled, as long as there's a happy ending
Things I do not enjoy:
--dark or angsty endings
--character bashing
--infidelity
--graphic violence
--non-con
--incest
--relationships where the parties don't seem to like each other
As far as fandom-specific stuff goes, I laid out my general preferences in the sign-up, but if you'd like some prompt ideas, here you go!
In the sign-up, I said: I'd love something set between Muriel's exit from the plot and Rupert and Anna's wedding, either with everyone plotting to get Anna and Rupert together or afterwards--I'm a sucker for 'fix this failing estate' plots, and I'd love to see Rupert and Anna make Mersham something really special.
Not gonna lie, this book is one of my comfort reads. It's got so many tropes I enjoy--royalty (or close enough) in disguise, marriage for the sake of saving a failing estate, horrible people getting humorous comeuppances, sudden riches saving everyone, loveable side characters, our heroine becoming beloved by everyone around her, the works. I'd love something that leans into that: more home renovations! New horrible people that Anna and Rupert and the gang at Mersham scheme to get rid of! Everybody being overjoyed that Rupert and Anna are getting married! Heck, go the whole hog and add magic to it, make Anna or Rupert or both of them wizards or something! (I read Ibbotson's Which Witch? and The Secret of Platform 13 as a kid, and enjoyed her brand of fantasy immensely.)
I'm okay with however much romance you want to put in. Rupert/Anna isn't top on my things I love about this book, but I do enjoy it, and if you want to throw in more rom-commy stuff before or after they get married, I would be all for it.
In the sign-up, I said: I'd love to see Alex and Nikita having post-show adventures. Taking down human traffickers, sweet-talking politicians, dealing with more rogue Division agents, doing undercover missions for whatever reason...heck, if you wanted to go a less-action packed route, getting used to a normal life would probably be an adventure for these two. I'd be good with gen or Alex/Nikita, and feel free to include the rest of the gang if you want.
One thing I really enjoyed about the last couple of seasons of Nikita was Alex's journey of reconciling with her past and reclaiming the identity of "Alexandra Udinov," so basically anything post-show focusing on Alex would be awesome, particularly featuring her relationships with Sonya, Nikita, and the rest of the Division gang, and how those do and don't change after the show has ended. Some ideas I thought of: Alex dealing with some high society jerk or tabloid reporter who thinks they're dealing with a ditzy heiress (and who are soon shown the error of their ways); some human rights event that Alex is attending turns out to be infiltrated by some baddy (maybe one of the rogue Division agents?), and the gang has to get back together to deal with it; Sonya and Alex bond while working out the logistics of some financially complicated charity fund Alex is setting up; Alex and Nikita go on what's supposed to be an actual vacation, but something goes awry; Alex and Nikita go on a vacation and it doesn't go awry and they bond...romantically, if you so desire? Idk, I'm in an Alex femslash kind of mood, but I'd enjoy gen adventures or bonding just as much.
In the sign-up, I said:I'd like something between the main plot of the movie and the epilogue, where Georgia is putting her restaurant together, being besties with Chef Didier, and cooking a lot. It would be great to watch Georgia making her dreams come true. Feel free to include Sean if so desired!
The absolute pleasure of Georgia making everyone fall in love with her, finding out she isn't dying, and getting everything she ever wanted at the end is so, so satisfying to me, and I'd love something that really leaned into that. I'd love to see how she and Sean went about making her restaurant dream come true, and the help and support I imagine she must have gotten from her extensive fan club, including Chef Didier. I found them as food-loving BFFs so charming--one thing that I loved about the movie in general was all the food porn, and also how Georgia on her vacation came to appreciate food for herself as something to enjoy, so if that's something you wanted to include in a story, I wouldn't say no.
In the sign-up, I said: I'm a sucker for fluffy, sappy, Iris/Miles, but I'd also like to see more about either of their careers--I'd love to see what Iris does after escaping from working with Jasper, and as a big fan of movie scores, I'd also enjoy more of Miles geeking out about movie music with Iris and doing his film composer thing.
So, I didn't actually just decide to request movies with "Holiday" in the title this year, but whatever, I can roll with it! One of my favorite plotlines in the movie was Miles introducing Iris to film music, and one of my other favorite plotlines was Iris learning to think of herself as the main character in her own life, so I'd really enjoy any combination of these things in a story. I'd love seeing Iris finding a career or way to spend her time that isn't overshadowed by her relationship with Jasper--perhaps entertainment-adjacent?--or seeing how she and Miles make the logistics of their relationship work. I think it would be cool to see Miles working on a film score, and maybe how his life inspires his music, like when he wrote Iris her own little theme song. It would also be cool to see more on Iris and Graham's brother-sister relationship, maybe bonding over the rough patches they've been through and/or the challenges of new relationships.
In the sign-up, I said: Dang, I would like to read stories about literally any combination of the characters in the nominated tags, but in terms of relationships I'd most like to read about, my top choices are Wolfgang/Kala/Rajan, Nomi/Amanita, Amanita & becoming friends with another sensate, and Zakia & becoming friends with another sensate (or, frankly, Zakia & learning about the whole sensate thing, because I would have loved to see that on the show).
Well, since this is one of those fandoms where I love absolutely everybody, I'm afraid I won't be able to narrow things down too much here, but I can come up with plot bunnies of stories I might enjoy using the nominated characters, so here they are:
--Nomi and Amanita's queer community in California meets some of the other sensates.
--Wolfgang and Felix buy and fix up a bar in Mumbai while Rajan takes Kala and Wolfgang on extravagant dates.
--Someone who knows about sensates--or just some politician guy who sees Capheus as an obstacle to his agenda--threatens Capheus, and Zakia and the cluster have to solve the case.
--Capheus has to explain to Zakia what the heck he was doing when the gang was rescuing Wolfgang, and the whole "sensate" thing comes out.
--Nomi and Amanita's honeymoon adventures
--Amanita writes a novel, somewhat inspired by her adventures with the sensates, that becomes a hit.
--Amanita enjoys getting to be friends with a movie star and/or a famous underground DJ who happen to be psychically connected to her wife.
--Capheus and Zakia run into an ex-girlfriend of Zakia's. What happens next?
--Kala gains a reputation in the scientific community for her enterprising work on pharmaceuticals and authors some well-regarded papers, or even a book, that make her a big name in particular scholarly circles. Wolfgang and Rajan couldn't be more proud...but what happens when her work brings her to the attention of some nefarious BPO offshoot?
I hope something in here is helpful to you, and that you enjoy writing your story as much as I'm looking forward to reading it! Thanks for writing for me, and happy Yuletide!
Best,
Tam Cranver
